The Board of Trustees of Congregation Har HaShem is excited to announce - We have a candidate for our new Cantor position to recommend for YOUR approval. Now is your time to show up and be counted! Please reserve March 10 at 7:00pm for an important Congregational Meeting. We will meet virtually via Zoom and will facilitate electronic voting for those who cannot attend.
Our Cantorial Search committee has completed a well-organized process to recruit and interview candidates – the results are this recommendation.
“It has been an honor and an amazingly rewarding process for us to serve on the search committee and we are even more excited to present Cantor Avery to our members for approval.” -Sue Baer, Co-Chair, Cantor Search Committee
Cantor Avery visited us in January, and met with various groups, including the Board of Trustees, youth group leaders, staff, Ritual Committee, Or Zimrah and other HHS community members. She prepared and presented a healing service, with the understanding that our community has had to overcome some devastating challenges. Everyone enjoyed her energy, warmth and deep, spiritual connection to Judaism. The Board unanimously approved bringing Cantor Avery to our community for consideration.
Cantor Avery has been in the cantorate for 14 years. She is currently serving a congregation in Dallas, Texas where she lives with her husband, Aaron Greenberg.
Cantor Avery is eager to join us, and be part of our community. With her beautiful singing voice she will bring talent, warmth, training, and experience to our congregation. In addition to her musical expertise and ability to play several instruments, she is already considered a great fit by our house musical group, Or Zimrah, and they are excited for her to join the group.
We will be holding a special Zoom congregational meeting and vote which will take place on Thursday, March 10 at 7pm. At the meeting you will hear from Rabbi Greene and our committee and have a chance to meet Cantor Avery. At the end of the meeting you will have the opportunity to cast your vote.
Don’t miss your chance to be a part of deciding the future of Har HaShem.
