We couldn't be happier to welcome the High Holy Days with you...

As a congregation, as a community, and as a people; the High Holidays are a time that bring us all together. Come and join us in welcoming the new year. Whether you choose to attend in-person at Har HaShem or online, we look forward to seeing you, and providing a meaningful connection however you choose to celebrate.

Everyone must register to attend services in person

Things to Be Aware of...

  • Most morning services will happen outdoors. Come prepared with water, sunglasses, and dressed for the weather.
    • Family and congregational services will be in our tent.
    • Preschool services (9am on the mornings of Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur) will be under the trees at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, our neighbor.
  • All night-time services will be held in the North Building Sanctuary.
  • Har HaShem strongly recommends that all members of our community and visitors be fully vaccinated for COVID.
  • Preregister for all services. Your registration will help us plan. Print the QR code or save it to your phone.
  • Children age 3 and under do not need to be registered
  • Services will be streamed to our website.
  • We will welcome guests and visitors as space allows.

What to expect:

Rabbi Greene and Cantor Avery will lead services using Mishkan HaNefesh, the High Holy Day prayerbook of the Reform movement. The schedule will include evening and morning services on both holidays, afternoon services on Yom Kippur, and a morning service on the second day of Rosh HaShanah.

Rabbi Greene and Cantor Avery will lead a separate, shorter, family service on each holiday using Mishkan HaNefesh for Youth.

Leah Boonin will lead a short service geared for preschool-age children and their families.

Pricing

All of our services are free to our members. For non-members and member guests; Erev Rosh HaShanah (contemporary & traditional), Rosh HaShanah Day 1 Traditional, Kol Nidrei (contemporary & traditional), and Yom Kippur Traditional services will cost $37.38 for member guests, and $93 for non-members.

Volunteering

Our team is working around the clock to give our community the best High Holiday experience we can provide. But we can't do it alone. Sign up to volunteer today!

Security

We have advanced an array of security plans to make sure that our holy days are comfortable while we take meaningful care of all who come on our campus. We will have security throughout the campus during our holy days. We have worked out arrangements with our security company, Boulder PD, and security representatives from JEWISHcolorado's Regional Safety & Security Initiative, https://www.jewishcolorado.org/resource/regional-safety-security-initiative/.

Parking will be available only in our parking lots. Please enter via Baseline Road and exit via Pinon Road (by the South Building) for all of our evening and morning services.

Visiting? New?

We intend to welcome visitors to our services, so long as we have space to accommodate our members.

  • If you belong to another congregation, complete this form or contact them directly to request seating on your behalf.
  • If you are a visitor or new to Har HaShem and would like additional information, send us an email. We'll be delighted to meet you and answer your questions!
  • Once you have either completed the form above, and/or sent us an email, you can proceed to get your reciprocal tickets here.

Har HaShem aims to include people of any age who may temporarily or permanently move, hear, see, touch, think, learn, communicate, process stimuli, and/or experience emotions differently. If you need an accommodation to participate in our services and programs, please email our inclusion committee. We'll try to meet your needs.

Options for Children

While children under 12 are welcome to attend all of our services, we do have options better suited for our younger families. This includes both a preschool and family Rosh HaShanah day service, as well as a preschool and family service for Yom Kippur. Tashlich is also a great way for children to participate. The short ritual, streamside, complete with dropping pebbles into the stream, is an easy, interactive, multi-sensory way to introduce themes of repentance, renewal, and creation. To view a full list of services, click the High Holiday Schedule button at the top of this page.

Our Story, Your Table: The Union for Reform Judaism has developed a children’s activity book that can be used by families with children grades 1-7 to reflect and prepare for the High Holidays. Use this link to get your free resource!

Feed the Hungry

Over the last decade, Har HaShem members and friends have donated almost 50,000 meals to those in need through our Project Isaiah. This year we will collect bags of non-perishable, non-expired food at Har HaShem starting Erev Rosh HaShanah, 10/2, thru Sukkot, 10/23. Local hunger is a reality with 33,650 people in Boulder County struggling with hunger, including 6,400 children. Every donation matters! Our collection bins will be located next to the South Building Tent and on the walkway from the parking lot to the main plaza of the North Building.

Resources

As we approach the High Holy Days, our partners at JFS Jewish Disabilities Advocates encourage us to 1) consider how we are fulfilling our own needs for social connections and 2) challenge ourselves to ensure that others, especially those with disabilities who may be at risk of disconnection, also receive the benefits social connections provide.
